ARTICLE I - MEMBERSHIP
A. Association membership is available to all individuals who served aboard the United States Ship Salisbury Sound (AV-13) and individuals who were assigned to squadrons and staffs which were assigned to the ship.
B. Other individuals who upon recommendation of a member of the Salisbury Sound Association who share the goals and ideals of the association may become members.
ARTICLE II - DUES
A. Association membership fees are:
1. The first 300 members to join shall be charter members with annual dues of $10.00.
2. All subsequent members joining the association shall be regular members with annual dues of $15.00
3. Widows of members are not required to pay dues.
ARTICLE III - ELECTIONS
A. The association shall be governed by an Executive Board consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a 15 member Board of Directors. All past presidents shall be members of the board.
B. The executive Board shall have control of the association and association assets, subject to the direction of the membership.
C. Funds of the association will be used for the normal business expenses of the association.
ARTICLE IV - ELECTIONS
A. Elections will be held every two years to elect a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a Board of Directors.
B. A majority of votes by members present shall constitute an election.
C. Newly elected officers and members of the board of directors shall take office on the first of the month following their election.
ARTICLE V - DUTIES OF OFFICERS
A. President: Shall preside at all meetings, report on activities and insure all activities are in accordance with the constitution and bylaws.
B. Vice President: Shall assume duties of the President in absence of the President and handle other tasks as assigned by the President.
C. Secretary: Shall handle all correspondence for the association. He shall keep all records of individual members, receive all funds from the members and transmit same to the Treasurer.
D. Treasurer: Shall keep custody and account for all monies received by the Salisbury Sound Association. He shall deposit all association funds received from the Secretary and others in a bank checking account in the name of the Salisbury Sound Association. He shall pay all association bills, obtaining a voucher for each payment. He shall prepare a financial report at least annually and submit the same to the Executive Board.
E. Board of Directors: Shall make recommendations and give advice for the successful operation of the association.
ARTICLE VII - FISCAL YEAR
A. The fiscal year of this association shall be the calendar year. Membership dues shall become due at the beginning of each calendar year.
ARTICLE VII - RULES OF ORDER
A. The President shall maintain order at all meetings. Anyone failing to come to order at the third strike of the gavel will be removed from the meeting room and, accompanied by a member of the Executive Board, shall retire to attempt to resolve the problem.
B. Any member present shall have the opportunity to demand a vote on any subject brought up.
C. “Robert’s Rules of Order” will be used as a guide for conducting all association meetings.
ARTICLE VIII - DELEGATIONS
A. Delegations and Special Committees shall be appointed by the President. These assigned individuals shall act in the best interest of the association and report to the President.
ARTICLE IX - METHOD OF AMENDING BYLAWS
A. The Bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting of the association by majority vote of members present, provided the amendment is presented to the Board of Directors 30 days in advance.
ARTICLE X - NON MEMBER ATTENDING MEETINGS
A. By invitation of the Executive Board only.
